Oksanna is a retired elementary school teacher and would be happy to tailor her presentation to the needs of your students. She loves to talk about:
- the joy of reading and writing and how they re-enforce each other
- how she became an author and how anyone can become one
- how a book comes to life from idea to final product
- how to approach illustrating a picture book from thumbnail sketch to final illustration
- how to construct or plot a story
- how to develop a character
- how to write a non-fiction book
Fee:
Virtual presentation: $100.00 for one-hour session (for Kindergarten two 30-minute presentations)
In-person presentation/workshop: $250.00 for one-hour session + travel = 50 cents per kilometre round trip Grey Bruce and Greater Toronto Area (for Kindergarten two 30-minute presentations)
Oksanna provides graphic organizers and hand-outs.
School presentations include a PowerPoint presentation, therefore the ability to project images from the author’s laptop is required for in-person visits. Whiteboard or chart stand and markers. Small table or desk. Stool would be nice. Prefers one or two classes.
Some Funding for school visits is available through the Writers Union of Canada.
