Super Hammy and I were delighted to be at the recent 2018 National Reading Recovery and Early Literacy Conference (phew!) in Toronto!
Many thanks to DC Canada Education Publishing (and Susanne) for bringing Super Hammy and his books to this fabulous conference. I attended it for years as a Reading Recovery teacher, and it was a pleasure to attend it this year as an author of books that teachers and parents can use with children who are beginning to read.
Thanks also go out to Dr. Larry Swartz of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto who was one of the keynote speakers at the conference.
Dr. Swartz mentioned “Super Hammy Goes for a Drive” and made his own connection – a sad but funny story about a hamster he had in his classroom when he was a teacher.
Dr. Swartz’s latest book is “Take Me to Your Readers” about engaging young readers with the best picture books.
“Super Hammy – My First Reading Series” can be purchased from DC Canada Education Publishing. The books for beginning readers are also available in French.
Coming soon – “Super Hammy ABC”!
